CLINICAL
Ryan considers himself lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from the instructors he has had and from the colleagues with whom he has worked over the last 9 years. These varied high quality learning experiences have lent themselves to Ryan's unique approach to the treatment of each patient.
Ryan begins each session by collecting as much information about his patient's condition as possible. This usually begins when he greets them in the clinic waiting area with an observation of how the patient gets up and walks towards the treatment room (...but we won't tell them!). He believes that while having a good idea of what the problem is before initiating treatment is a very important component in clinical treatments, it is also vitally important to listen to what the patient has to say. Finally, range of motion and special orthopaedic testing help to fine tune the approach by either supporting or refuting suspicions regarding the condition.
The final piece to the puzzle is constant palpation and evaluation of the tissue. Ryan has focussed much of his practical efforts on becoming able to discern what is happening within the tissue's physiology by what is felt under his hands. In essence, the entire treatment becomes one long examination as the tissue changes are monitored by means of palpation and re-testing throughout its duration.
Ryan's approach to massage therapy combines an understanding of functional biomechanics and healthy tissue physiology with an advanced understanding of manual techniques so as to be able to safely and effectively manipulate tissues so as to better restore function and health. Lastly, Ryan continues to read and attend courses/seminars regarding the latest in Fascia Research. Fascia is the most prevalent tissue within the body, has no discernible beginning or end, and comes into contact with every other tissue within the body. He pieces each of these components together in order to provide effective and efficient care for his patients.
